I was fortunate to be asked to document – by video and photography – the grand opening celebration of Chan Nguyen, a Vietnamese Buddhist Temple in Victorville, CA in September 2011. More than 6,000 people attended the celebration including 700 Vietnamese Buddhist monks and nuns from Vietnam and France. This photographic slide show focuses on the 25′ tall marble statue of Quan Am, the Vietnamese Buddhist interpretation of Kuan Yin, the Buddhist goddess of compassion that is the centerpiece of the sculpture garden and grounds at the temple. Shot on a Canon 5DM3 with Canon L Series glass.
