This video was created for the crowdfunding campaign for the 13th Council Gathering – The Sacred Hoop of Peace and Compassion – held in Spearfish, South Dakota in early September 2014 of the Council of the 13 Indigenous Grandmothers. The crowdfunding campaign successfully raised over $27,000 in about four weeks. The Council gathering was attended by more than 350 people from throughout the US, Europe and Asia.

I’ve had the great privilege to photograph and video several Council Gatherings of the 13 Indigenous Grandmothers over the past several years as well as work with several of the grandmothers on their own projects such the Seed Temple in New Mexico established by Grandmother Flordemayo and a salmon restoration project done by Grandmother Agnes Baker Pilgrim in Oregon.

This video and interviews was shot by my friend Marisol Villanueva who is the official photographer of the 13 Indigenous Grandmothers. I edited the video, did sound design and helped strategize on the crowdfunding campaign and establishing a YouTube channel.
